My Perfect Bank Holiday Weekend

Who doesn’t look forward to a three-day holiday weekend? It’s not too often that the UK bank holidays fall on the same weekend as the U.S. holidays, so luckily we got to celebrate both. While most of my American friends were off jet-setting on the European continent, I opted for a more laid back approach to my holiday. Since Ken volunteered to give an oil and gas training in the Middle East, I was on my own for three whole days. What could I do with all that free time?   (more…)

Outsourcing Chores

I finally broke down and hired a maid. For months, Ken and I have talked about getting someone to come clean our flat, especially when the burden of laundry (have you seen our washing machine sans dryer?), clogged drains, broken lights and wobbly toilet seats (on top of a dirty apartment) drove us to the brink of insanity at times. There’s only so much free time for household repairs and chores on the weekends, and frankly, we are way more interested in spending that time hanging out with friends and exploring the city.
